For those days, the house is yours.

Anyone who has sat through a wedding in a city banquet hall knows the feeling: the next party queuing in the car park, the one before still clearing the tables, a stranger’s music through the wall. It is a room hired by the hour, and it feels like one.

Here there is nothing else on this stretch of Padubidri Beach Road. We host one event at a time, and when you take the house you take all of it — the hall, the Chart Room, the sea gallery, the verandah and the six suites — for an evening or for three days.

And the sea is at the door. Between the ceremonies your guests walk out onto the sand; the photographs take themselves.

An intimate hall, not a convention centre.

We are deliberately not a thousand-seat hall. Up to about a hundred and fifty is the size where a wedding still feels like a family, where you can speak to every guest who came, and where the food arrives hot.

The days people remember.

Intimate weddings and receptions, engagements and roce ceremonies, sangeet nights, milestone birthdays and anniversaries, naming ceremonies, reunions — and, on weekdays, company offsites and board meetings with the sunset as the closing session.

Families in town for a wedding somewhere else often take the whole house as their base, too. And if what you are planning is a retreat or a party for the team, our retreats page tells that story.

What we do not host: anything with amplified music past eleven at night. The house is residential and our neighbours have been here longer than we have.

Sea Swad, in-house

Fed by the kitchen that already runs here.

Sea Swad caters every event — Mangalorean ghee roast, sukka and the day’s catch for the fish-loving side of the family; the tandoor, North Indian curries and biryanis; Pan-Asian from the wok; and a vegetarian table made with exactly the same care. No MSG, no artificial colours.

Menus are built with you, not handed to you, and Jain, vegan, halal and no-onion-no-garlic menus are ordinary requests here. Every event gets a written quote — the per-plate rate, the hall and the staffing on one page — so you can compare us honestly against anyone else.

Six suites on site

The family sleeps where it danced.

Six distinctive rooms offer a place for your closest people to stay. Explore Luna Moon and Cherry Blossom for the couple, or Mud Heritage for friends. Our team can help plan the room arrangements.

For the rest of the guest list, Padubidri, Kaup and Udupi have rooms within half an hour; tell us your numbers and we will help arrange them and the transport. Parking is free and on site.

Padubidri sits almost exactly halfway between Udupi and Mangaluru on NH-66, so guests from either city drive about the same distance — and those flying in land forty minutes away.

Planning an event

What couples and organisers ask us first.

01How many guests can the Casuarina Hall hold?

Up to about 150. We are deliberately an intimate venue rather than a thousand-seat hall — it is the size where a wedding still feels like a family and every guest is looked after.

02Is there an outdoor lawn for the ceremony?

No — ceremonies and receptions are held in the Casuarina Hall, so the weather can never spoil them. The beach is right in front of the house for photographs, walks and the morning after, and the sea gallery opens to the sunset for a toast.

03Do we have to use your caterer?

Catering is in-house from Sea Swad — that is how we hold the standard, and there is no separate kitchen-hire charge. Decorators, florists, photographers, musicians and priests are entirely your choice; we are happy to introduce people we have worked with.

04Can we hold a meeting or corporate offsite?

Yes. The Chart Room suits a board or a small team, the Casuarina Hall a larger group of up to about 150, and the six suites make a residential offsite easy. See our retreats page for how a seaside offsite here works.

05Where do the rest of our guests stay?

The six suites house the immediate family. Padubidri, Kaup and Udupi have rooms at every budget within half an hour; tell us your numbers and we will help arrange rooms and transport.

06How far in advance should we book?

For weddings in the November to February season, six months ahead if you can. We hold a tentative date for seven days while you decide.

Send us the date, the rough head count and what you are celebrating. We come back with availability and a written quote, and hold a tentative date for seven days.
